presented the group with the Best Chamber Ensemble Award.
It has recently recorded works by Martinu and Fauré for Chandos records and these will be released at the end of 2009 (Martinu) and early in 2010 (Fauré).. Further plans for 2009 include tours to the Czech Republic, Holland, Spain, Canada and the USA It has also been invited to give a 3-concert series at Wigmore Hall programming the piano quintet and quartets of George Enescu.
The appearance of Mozart alongside Faure this evening highlights Fauré’s writing as perhaps the most Classical of the French composers, using melody for its own sake rather than to portray an emotion or mood.
