Black Dyke has a golden history spanning over 150 years. Last October at the Royal Albert Hall the band won the National Championships becoming one of the most successful bands in history.

This afternoon concert promises to appeal to all, with a good march, the evocative Praise My Soul hymn tune and the grand finale of Tchaikovsky’s magnificent March Slave with over 200 musicians, including the Yorkshire Youth Brass Band.

Other items in the programme include the The Kirton One Forty March, World premiere Aurora from Andrea Price, Paul Lovatt-Cooper’s Within Blue Empires and Edward Gregson’s Laudate Dominum.

The concert is part of Black Dyke’s Brass Symposium weekend and there will also be an exhibition of brass band memorabilia from the Brass Band Archive in the Elgar Room at Leeds Town Hall.

For an afternoon not to be forgotten, in the words of Sir Elton John, ‘come and listen to the world’s greatest brass band’!
