Yorkshire Voices present two of the most distinctive works of recent years. Premiered in April 2000, The Armed Man subtitled 'A Mass for Peace', was commissioned by the Royal Armouries. The Mass is interspersed with words from the Bible, Kipling, Tennyson, and the Islamic Call to Prayer as a cry against the horrific consequence of war.
'I Love the World' wrote David Fanshawe as a footnote to his score for African Sanctus, which celebrates the sounds and beliefs of Africa. It draws together Christian, Islamic, Tribal and Folk based music, rhythm and dance into a truly unique work of great power.
